Be The Difference

About Us:
How can we help you?

How can we help you?
We offer families a wide range of options to meet their needs -- from telephone counseling, information, and referral to home visiting, support groups, and psychological counseling. Many services are available in the privacy of your own home. Others are available at your choice of convenient locations. Child care is often provided.

Family Resources works to ensure that all our services are accessible to families that may not speak English fluently, offering emotional and social support, counseling, help with life skills, coaching in parenting skills, and advocacy in dealing with cultural and language challenges.

We provide the following services:

Child Abuse Prevention
  • The Parenting WARMLINE at Family Resources is a free telephone service offering confidential information, referral, and support for any non-medical parenting question.
  • Parenting support groups are available in many Allegheny County neighborhoods where parents and other caregivers can get information and meet other parents to share concerns and experiences.
  • Peer support groups in an informal setting for parents of young children, school-age children, and teenagers, groups for teen parents and grandparents raising children provide an opportunity for group members to give and receive support; many ongoing groups meet weekly.
  • The Nurturing Course is a parent education series that teaches parents how to cope more effectively with the challenges of raising children.
  • Home visits help new parents to help with the transition to parenthood.

  • High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW), in partnership with Allegheny County Joint Planning Teams (JPT). High Fidelity Wraparound is a process used to recognize the complex needs of children and youth (0-21) with a mental health diagnosis and their families who are involved with several service systems. Wraparound is a way to improve the lives of children with complex behavioral needs and their families. The integration process of wraparound develops an individualized plan of care so that children and youth grow up in their homes and communities.

Beverly Jewel Wall Lovelace Children's Program
  • The Beverly Jewel Wall Lovelace Children's Program (BJWL) promotes children's safety and well-being within their communities. BJWL supports families taking care of their children year-round; after-school and summer activities including social, emotional, academic, recreational and other resources for families.
