MAKE A DONATION TO FAMILY RESOURCES

There are several types of donations listed below.  Please click on one that interests you or scroll down this document.

Individual Giving

The mission of Family Resources is to prevent and treat child abuse by strengthening families and neighborhoods.

To prevent child abuse is a mission simply stated, yet its realization requires profound change in attitudes and behavior in families and society.   We love children, but often they are maltreated and are the victims of many kinds of violence. Family Resources works steadily to promote change, guided by a vision that we translate into achievable goals.

Donations from individuals, businesses, corporations, civic organizations, foundations and United Way form the basis of the community's support of our programs. Family Resources is grateful for all gifts, regardless of size, to promote its mission.

Individual gifts can be made in many forms.

Gifts by mail

The simplest method of giving to Family Resources is by personal check, money order or credit card. Donations can be made by mail using the Donation Form

Gifts online

Credit card donations can be made online.  To make a donation online, click the button below.

Gifts by telephone

Credit card donations can be made over the telephone by calling the Development Office at 412-363-1702 ext. 1172.

Appreciated Securities

A gift of long-term appreciated securities has two major advantages:  it provides the donor with an income tax deduction and eliminates any capital gains taxes to the extent allowable by tax law.

Life Insurance

The gift of life insurance to Family Resources provides the donor with a charitable contribution for the present cash surrender value; contributions made for premiums paid after the transfer also are tax deductible.

Planned Giving

Family Resources has made a long-term commitment to the community in terms of its mission and innovative programs. This commitment is underwritten by a sizeable endowment and is generously supported by foundations, businesses and concerned individuals like you.

You may wish to consider making an investment in Family Resources through a planned gift.

Planned giving meets the philanthropic goals of donors while providing a way for them to maximize legal, financial and tax benefits. In most cases, a donor's planned giving program is the result of a comprehensive estate, retirement and financial plan conducted under the guidance of a planned giving team. It takes into consideration the donor's tax liability, lifetime financial objectives, retirement needs, asset analysis, and risk profile.

Gifts can be given to Family Resources through the following arrangements.

Bequests:

A provision for Family Resources allows for a substantial contribution without diminishing assets during the donor's lifetime. Since bequests to Family Resources are deductible from the estate, significant tax savings are possible.

Charitable Lead Trusts:

Income is paid to Family Resources each year during the life of the trust.  When the trust terminates, the assets revert to the donor or another beneficiary.

Charitable Remainder Trusts:

An irrevocable trust can be used to provide the donor or loved one with a fixed annual income or an income that varies with the value of the trust. A portion of the trust qualifies for an income tax deduction. At the death of the last income beneficiary, the assets in the trust are distributed to Family Resources and/or other beneficiaries to be used as the donor has designated.

Family Foundation:

Families retain maximum control over the foundation's assets and can fund multiple years of giving. Foundations are used to give assets not easily divisible, and they provide an organized structure for a family's charitable activities.

If considering a planned gift to Family Resources, please consult your legal and financial advisors to determine the best planned giving option for you.
