Services acquired from Parental Stress Center on March 1, 2010:

Parental Stress Center Safe Visits Safe Families provides supervised visits for families referred by Family Court. The families -- many of which have experienced domestic violence -- are involved in contentious custody proceedings. Children have supervised visits with the non-custodial parent in the safe and secure setting of our building when high-security is needed, or out in the community or in the parent's home when a less restrictive environment is appropriate.

Family Unification Services provide intensive in-home services for families at risk for child abuse and/or neglect. Through counseling, parenting, life skills education, and referrals to community organizations, families improve their functioning and connect with the resources they need to provide a safe and secure home for their children. Counselors travel to homes in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties as determined by referrals from County child welfare agencies.

Through The Citizens Leadership Initiative, low-income individuals who want to participate in civic affairs and improve conditions in their communities receive leadership training.

The Economic Empowerment Initiative enables low-income families and individuals to increase their financial knowledge, gain access to financial and community resources, and obtain and build financial assets in order to become more self-sufficient.

Family Resources works to ensure that all our services are accessible to families that may not speak English fluently, offering emotional and social support, counseling, help with life skills, coaching in parenting skills, and advocacy in dealing with cultural and language challenges.
