Parents Anonymous is a volunteer-led, anonymous self-help group
for parents who have hit, beaten, or threatened their child, have expressed
concerns about their own parenting skills, or fear they may abuse their
child.
Peer support groups and parent education in an informal setting for
parents of young children, school-age children, and
teenagers, groups for teen parents and grandparents raising children;
group members give and receive help; many ongoing groups meet weekly.

The Parent-Teen Conflict Program provides support

with a child who has a serious emotional disturbance
Community Connections for Families (CCF) ensures
access to a wide range of services for children between the ages of 6
and 16 who have severe emotional disorders and their families. The
program includes outreach, parent support, advocacy in school and community
settings, and parent empowerment. Family Resources is the lead agency
for CCF in East Liberty and nearby neighborhoods and in McKeesport

The Hill District Center for Nurturing Families provides parent

Wall Lovelace Children's Program (BJWL), located in 19 public and subsidized
housing communities throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, provides
safe after-school and summer programs six days a week for children ages
5-16. BJWL offers social, emotional, academic, recreational, and other resources
for families.

FAMILIES IN CRISIS

- Immediate response to families in crisis because of child abuse
or neglect
Crisis
Intervention Services are offered for families whose children are
at risk for being placed outside the home because of physical or emotional
abuse, neglect, or disclosure of sexual abuse; services include support/education
for families working toward reunification.

FAMILIES WITH ABUSED CHILDREN

- Physically, sexually and emotionally abused and/or neglected
children
Outpatient
Psychotherapy Services include individual, family, group, couples,
and play therapy -- and collateral sessions -- as well as therapy for adults
who experienced abuse and/or other forms of family violence as children;
treatment services for non-abusing partners, psychiatric evaluation.

Family-Based Mental Health Services provide
intensive, team-delivered and individualized mental health services in
the home for families with a child or adolescent (up to age 21) who is at
risk for out-of-home placement. Services include family and individual
therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and family support services.

Family-Focused/Solution-Based Services provide
crisis intervention, assessment, individual and family therapy, resource
coordination/case management, and support and education about mental health

- Abused and neglected preschool children
The Therapeutic
Parents' and Children's Center provides therapeutic preschool services
for children with developmental delay and/or emotional disturbance who
may have experienced physical or sexual abuse or severe neglect, or who
may have witnessed family violence. Supportive services are provided to parents
and caregivers.
