The Nurturing Father's Program

The Nurturing Father's Program is a 13-week course designed to teach parenting and nurturing skills to men. Each 2 hour class encourages discussion and provides effective skills for fostering healthy family relationships, learning non-violent discipline techniques, and improving communication and co-parenting skills. The Nurturing Father’s Program is based upon the same principles as the Nurturing Parenting Course and provides activities that stimulate thinking, self-awareness and empathy in a supportive atmosphere. The program is offered in a group format as well as one-on-one. There is no fee to participate in the program and program enrollment is open to any father residing in Allegheny County.

Our program is facilitated by trained Family Support Center staff and is based out of the Hill District Center for Nurturing Families. Fathers who participate in the program may be eligible to receive additional family support center services, which include: family recreational activities, goal planning, school readiness activities, advocacy, referrals and developmental screenings for children ages 0-5.

Overview

The Nurturing Father's Program provides education and support to fathers of all ages residing in Allegheny County.
