Child Abuse Prevention Month Awards Benefit

The Child Abuse Prevention Month Awards Benefit will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Westin Convention Center Hotel. Please use The Child Abuse Prevention Month Awards Benefit Advance Registration Form to support the event and purchase tickets in advance by mail.  To purchase tables, tickets or advertisements in the program in advance using paypal, please click here.

The Pittsburgh Superhero 5K

The Pittsburgh Superhero 5K will be held on April 17, 2010 beginning at the North Park Lodge (Time TBD). The entire family is encouraged to come, dressed as their favorite superheroes (optional), and participate in the family games, DJ and autograph sessions there. There will also be an adults-only after-event party at a local bar in the area (more details to follow). Last year's event raised over $13,000 for the prevention and awareness of child abuse. Our goal this year is to raise over $20,000. Every child needs a hero, but abused children need superheroes. For more information about the Superhero Foundation, look online at www.thesuperherofoundation.org.  To register, click here.

Projects and Campaigns

Family Resources is launching this new campaign to encourage all of us to get involved to support parents and children.

Child Abuse Prevention Month Campaign

What should you do when you see a parent screaming or belittling a child in a public place, a parent spanking a child for touching an object that may have sparked her curiosity, or a distracted parent leaving a child unattended? Watching a parent and child in a stressful situation, we may be unsure how we ourselves should behave. What could we do to help? What is our responsibility?

We believe that everyone is responsible for what happens to children. For more information, call Family Resources Parenting WARMLINE at 800-641-4546.
