child abuse by strengthening families and neighborhoods. Last year, volunteers
donated 6,453 hours and provided invaluable assistance to our many programs.
Our volunteers are diverse,
encompassing a wide range of backgrounds such as teachers, social workers,
professionals, homemakers, retirees, students and individuals who are multi-lingual.

What kind of commitment
must I make?
This depends on your time,
interest and the needs of our organization. On average, Family
Resources volunteers work three 3-hour shifts per month, ideally with an
initial six month time commitment.
What type of training
will I receive?
All new volunteers are asked
to attend a three-hour agency orientation. Training requirements vary
by position.
Are there any other requirements?
At Family Resources, confidentiality
and safety are very important. Everyone who works at Family Resources -
whether volunteer or paid staff - is carefully interviewed and screened.
Each volunteer is asked to complete a volunteer application, apply for Act
33/34 clearances (the agency will pay for the cost of clearances), and
provide references. Potential candidates will meet with the Program Supervisor
prior to becoming a volunteer.
All volunteers are required to have criminal and child abuse clearances
in order to become active. Family Resources will handle the applications
and cover all costs.
